Catalogue Note
The tool used at the corners of the gilt fillets on the covers (a crown with a sceptre and leaves through it) is identical to that used on the two-volume Aldine Homer of 1524 (see lot 4538), and the paper labels on the spine indicate that they were all shelved together. Didymus was an Alexandrian grammarian.
