a fine association copy, from the library of Nicolas-Joseph Foucault, who founded the Académie des Belles-Lettres in Caen, where he was intendant from 1689 to 1706. The present work includes Foucault's address given at the opening on 2 March 1705, together with the reply by Monsieur le Président de Croisilles, director of the new academy.
