Catalogue Note

first edition of this catalogue of the Greek manuscripts in the library of the duc de Coislin, which he had inherited from his great-grandfather Pierre Séguier (1588-1672), chancelier of France. In 1731 Coislin gave the manuscripts to the abbey of St Germain-des-Prés, where some were destroyed by fire in 1793; those that survived are now in the Bibliothèque nationale. See lot 4628 for Montfaucon's catalogue of the Greek manuscripts in the great libraries of Europe.
