Catalogue Note

editio princeps of the Odes of Anacreon, and the first work published by Henri Estienne the younger. The manuscript of these odes was in the possession of an English Catholic in Louvain, which Estienne identified as being by Anacreon. However, in his edition, he omitted a poem at the beginning which implied that the poems following were all in the style of Anacreon; he thus presented them as the lost work of Anacreon himself.
