  • A PAIR OF 'BLANC-DE-CHINE' FIGURES OF BUDDHIST LIONS, 18TH CENTURY
  • 27cm and 21cm high respectively
for use as taper holders, each seated with heads turned slightly to the side with jaws open holding a long ribbon, a collar of bells around its neck and applied with long mane and tail, one foreleg raised over a brocade ball, the high rectangular plinth supporting a taper holder; together with another similar Buddhist lion figure

Condition

Lion One: Glaze abrasion above footrim; firing crack at elbow of left foreleg; two tail tufts ends chipped off Lion Two: small chip under right forepaw; one tail tuft broken off; small firing crack on front of plinth Lion Three: One mane curl chipped off; frit to top of tail tuft; tips of both ears chipped; roughened glaze to upper rear corner of plinth
