- A LARGE BLUE AND WHITE SLEEVE VASE, TRANSITIONAL PERIOD
- 45.5cm high
of cylindrical form with waisted neck, the body finely painted with an official standing beneath a parasol, his attendants holding fans and banners to the side greeting a messenger bearing a gift, all within a fenced garden of rocks and plants, between incised borders and with a painted plantain leaf collar around the neck
Condition
Section around two thirds of waisted mouth restuck; rim chip approximately 4mm and smaller chips/frits; hairline crack around base of vase approximately 17 cm; mouth rim unglazed, possibly ground
