Catalogue Note
Ola Cohn played an important role in the artistic life of Melbourne in the early twentieth century. After studying sculpture at the Bendigo School of Mines and Swinburne Technical College she took up a scholarship at the Royal College of the Arts where she studied for three years under Henry Moore. She returned to Melbourne in 1931, achieved considerable success and Ola established a home and meeting place for artists which she left in her will to the Council of Adult Education and continues today to encourage artists and is used for a wide range of visual art courses.
