Description

each piece decorated in gilding with neoclassical palmette and foliate devices, comprising: a rectangular sugar bowl and cover, a waste bowl, a saucer dish and ten coffee cans and saucers, crowned crossed batons over script D mark and pattern number 57 in iron-red. Some discoloration, minor chips and haircracks. 24 pieces.

Condition

The sugar bowl with finely crackled glaze resulting in slight discoloration on the handles, particularly on the terminals, and one handle reglued; the knop on the cover also reglued and with a tiny chip under two corners of its fluted edge. The waste bowl with allover creamy discoloration, but also with some brownish spots; and the gilding on the rim edge with slight wear. The saucer dish with allover discoloration and some brown spots in the center; and the gilding on the rim ege with slight wear. Five coffee cans with interior borders: three good other than occasional very slight wear to the gilding on the rim edge and one with some grit on the bottom of the interior. One has an approximate ¼-in. gilt-over interior rim chip above the handle. The last with a 2-inch (5-cm.) hair crack on the rim. Five coffee cans without interior borders - all with slight discoloration and minor wear to the gilding on the rim edge. Two otherwise OK. One with a 1/8-inch and ¼-inch (3 and 6-mm.) patch of wear close together on the lower gilt line, some grittiness at the base of the interior and a small brown discoloration spot at the rim. One with two brownish discolorations beside the handle and some stray cobalt-blue spots on one side. The last with a 1 ¼-inch (2.5-cm.) discolored hair crack down the base and across the footrim, and some small patches of wear to the gilt line around the base. Ten saucers - five good other than very slight stacking wear, and one of those with a small slightly discolored glaze crack. Five with slight overall discoloration; two of those otherwise OK; one with a little stacking wear and very slight wear to the gilding on the rim edge; one with brownish discoloration spots in the center, slight stacking wear an slight wear to the rim edge; and the last with crackling and speckling in the center
