Description
each piece painted in the center with a flower spray within a gilt foliate- and scroll-edged green-ground shaped border on the rim, comprising: a circular footed compote, two sauce tureens, covers and stands and twelve plates, some pieces with pattern number 7302. Some damage and repair. 19 pieces.
Condition
The fruit stand broken and repaired through the upper half of the hourglass-shaped foot, and the overpainted on the restored area now discoloring; the green ground with an occasional scratch to the enamel; and the handles and rim edge with exceptionally minor wear to the gilding, hardly worth mentioning.
Pair of sauce tureens - one in half from side to side, the break causing a break through one side of the bifurcated handle, and on the other side there is a reglued 1 5/8-inch (4.2-cm.) triangular double chip on the rim with a shallow 1/8-inch (4-mm.) flake off the exterior at the central join of the two triangles; the break with occasional losses along it on the exterior. The other tureen with a hair crack through one side of the handle where it joins the rim, and a 5/8-inch strip on the rim that might be regilded, but probably is just original gilding over an unglazed area. The covers both good, though both with the gilding worn off the rim edge. The stands - one with a 4-inch circular chunk of the center out and reglued, but with minor losses along the break; and the other with the same sort of circular crack running 2/3 of the way around the cavetto, also with minor losses along the crack.
Twelve plates - All with minor scratching to the center and to the green enamel on the rims, and with occasional exceptionally minor wear to the gilding on the rim edge. Ten otherwise good. The eleventh with a 1 7/8-inch (4.7-cm.) hair crack on the rim at 3 o'clock. The twelfth in half and with another 3 1/8 x 2-inch (8 x 5-cm.) triangular piece out of the rim at the upper edge of the break (from 12 to 1:30 o'clock) - that piece also with small chips along its edges, a reglued ½-inch chip under the edge, and the front of the rim at 1:30 with some scratching and wear (caused probably by the restorer); the breaks have been attached with three rivets; and where the break crosses the footrim on one side there is a filled-in 3/8-inch (9-mm.) chip.
