Description

  • height 4 5/8 in.
  • 11.8 cm
emblematic of 'Fire,' and painted on one side with Jupiter, the reclining Vulcan, and a putto and cupid at the forge, the reverse with Venus in her chariot amidst clouds above cupids playing with arrows and torches, and the cover with a Chinese river scene.  The handle repaired and the cover probably married.

Condition

Handle off and repaired, a 2mm original chip inside the pot rim; the cover with a 1mm frit on the knop which has lost all of its gilding.
