- height 2 5/8 in.; diameter 4 5/8 in.
- 6.5 and 11.8 cm
each painted with a boar hunt depicting the speared boar being attacked by a hound and a European astride a spotted horse, four bare-footed Asians wielding spears and galloping toward them in a woodland clearing. Chip on the cup and a hair crack on the saucer.

Condition
Both with serious wear to the gilding on the rim edge; the cup rim with a 3mm chip on the front edge; the saucer with a 1" haircrack at 3:30.

A waste bowl with this decoration is illustrated by Forbes, p. 43, no. 76; and a dish in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, is illustrated by Hervouët and Bruneau, pl. 72, no. 3.19. A tea canister illustrated by Howard and Ayers, Vol. I, p. 283, no. 281, who comment on the unusual scene, noting that all the riders are barefoot, was in the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Rafi Y. Mottahedeh, sold in these rooms on October 19, 2000, lot 226.
