Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Balfour of Balbirnie, Co. Fife impaling Maitland, for James Balfour, younger son of John Balfour of Balbirnie and his wife Lady Eleanor Maitland, daughter of James, 8th Earl of Lauderdale.  He died in 1845.
