each of vase form, the sides set with panels of Neptune, Amphitrite, and marine dieties, the pots chased with Greek palmette decoration around the spout and ends of the carved ivory snake handles, all pieces engraved with early arms under drapery mantles, the teapot 1829, the other pieces 1831

Catalogue Note
A gilt five-piece set of this model, marked 1828-29, was purchased by Thomas Hope and was recently featured in the exhibition devoted to him at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Bard Graduate Center (cat. no. 104). The snake and egg handles have appeared in Hope's Household Furniture and Interior Decoration of 1806.
The arms are those of Rothschild.
