Description

  • with padded cushion: 23.5 by 14.5 by 12cm, 9¼ by 5¾ by 4¾in.; the other: 22.5 by 15.5 by 15cm, 8¾ by 6 by 6in.
both caskets of teremok form, the wood carcass overlaid with panels of ivory pierced and engraved with foliate ornament in places over original yellow metal foil, one surmounted with padded cushion, on bracket feet  

Condition

The box with padded cushion: the lid is loose and is held on one hinge. There are losses to the ivory panels, especially to the left hand side and to the side panel of the lid. The one with a stylised snowflake design on the lid: soem of the panels appear to be damaged and restored.
