Catalogue Note

Model Resting is an example of Troubetzkoy working outside his familiar society portrait genre. The bronze was inspired by a casual pose assumed by a model after a life-drawing class. A similar situation was the inspiration for Frederick, Lord Leighton's famous Sluggard.  A bronze of Model Resting dated 1900 is in the Museum in Kiev and a bronze (cast by Valsuani) dated 1912 is in the Russian Museum, St.  Petersburg.
