Description

  • length: 7.4cm, 2 7/8 in
circular, the frame formed by three filigree scroll ellipses within single- and circular-cut diamonds and centred by a diamond-set Imperial crown, in original fitted presentation case and accompanied by original presentation letter dated 20 March 1916, with workmaster's initials, 56 standard, French import marks

Provenance

Presented to Hubert Louveau by Alexander Izvolsky, Russian Ambassador to France, on behalf of Emperor Nicholas II in gratitude for M. Louveau having sent the emperor a book of poems and drawings done in collaboration with Charles Rocher.
