Catalogue Note

Saint Nicholas is the 'earthly' protector of hearth and home, of goods and chattels. The Angel is the 'heavenly' protector.
The Kazanskaya is the icon of the Mother of God which is most near to the common man. Saint John and Saint Evdokia are probably the name-saints of the couple who commissioned this icon.
