Condition
Original canvas, which is loose on the stretcher. The paint surface is dirty and there is a layer of discoloured varnish. There is a tear to the top right hand corner of the canvas 9cm in length along the inner frame edge. There is a line of craquelure above the lamp-post middle left with a few flecks of paint-loss in this area. There is some light abrasion visible along the inner right hand edge. The work would benefit from cleaning and strip-lining. UV light reveals no retouching. Held in a gold painted wooden frame with plaster mouldings. There are losses to the mouldings and the slip frame is damaged.
