Condition

Original canvas which is loose in the stretcher and slightly undulated at the top left corner. There is a layer of light surface dirt and the varnish has discoloured. There is a horizontal crease running across the centre of the painting 6cm above the lower edge. UV light reveals an uneven layer of varnish and some retouching to the eyes and shoes of the subject and in places along the left hand edge. Held in a painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
