Condition

The sheet is sound. There are some very minor spots of foxing and light staining in places. The colours are fairly fresh. Held in gold painted wood frame and behind glass. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note

In 1904, Bilibin illustrated Pushkin's Tale of Tsar Saltan. When Bilibin moved to Paris in 1925 he once again illustrated the Tale of Tsar Saltan, this time for Rimsky-Korsakov's adaptation of the 1929 opera for the Opéra privé de Paris.
