Condition

Oil on original canvas. The canvas is very slightly buckled. The surface is a little dirty and covered with a thick layer of varnish. The paint layer is thin in places where pigment has been lost; the canvas is visible below the surface in these areas, most noticeably to the central right region, the left-most edge, and to the right of the center-left monk's head. Under UV certain pigments fluoresce, though the varnish prevents a conclusive analysis. Held in a gold painted wood frame. Unexamined out of frame.
