Condition

The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting on panel is in lovely condition. Some very slight cracking has developed to the paint layer yet this is not unstable or disturbing. The cracking in the sky appears to have been retouched slightly but the retouches have blanched. If the picture were to be cleaned, it can then be decided as to whether the retouches are actually necessary. It is unlikely that retouching will be successful and the picture could be left un-retouched, although attempts could be made to retouch the cracking slightly.
