The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting is in good condition, although some attention is required. The canvas has been lined using glue as an adhesive. The paint layer is stable and very healthy overall. There are restorations clearly visible to the naked eye, which have discolored. They have been applied to the sky on either side of the larger boat, on the left and right side of the sky, in the water in the lower left and in the water around the row. If the paint layer were to be cleaned, it would brighten, yet overall the picture is in very good state.
