Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This painting has been lined using glue as an adhesive. The paint layer is stable and most likely slightly dirty. There are some faintly visible restorations under ultraviolet light in a patch in the snow ahead of the horses' heads, in a few other random spots around the upper left corner, and elsewhere here and there. The picture would be well worth cleaning and the current retouches could be adjusted and appropriately applied.
