Condition

The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting is in beautiful state. It doesn't appear to have been restored; however, there is some slight thinness to the paint layer in the upper center, but given the fact that the painting seems to be completely undamaged and unrestored, we conjecture that this abrasion here may well be original. In the tree above the goats there are some white patches which may be abrasion, but the painting certainly should be properly cleaned and retouched in this tree in the lower center and possibly some of this white under-painting should be slightly diminished in the upper sky. Overall, on its unreinforced panel, the picture is certainly going to restore very well.
