Condition

The canvas has been laid on board. There is a layer of light surface dirt and some abrasion to the edges. There are a few light scratches and some staining to the upper half and lower left corner visible in the catalogue image. UV light reveals an uneven layer of varnish and one possible patch of retouching to the central right section. Held in a silver painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.

Catalogue Note

What is this? Merely a set of details. You do not sense the whole. You do not see the large sign. Seek the sign. There should be a sign. Else nothing will turn out.
