the first modeled as a sailor and his lass embracing upon his departure and the second as the couple meeting upon his return, each on a low green mound before a flowering bocage on a chamfered rectangular marbleized base inscribed either EAREWLL [sic] or RETURN. Minor chips and restoration.
Provenance
D. M. & P. Manheim Antiques, New York
Condition
The bocage of 'Farewell' is restored through the trunk just above the brickwork wall upon which she sits. There are some chips to the applied flowers of both bocages and bases; and some touch-ups and minor restoration to the tips of some of the leaves. The blue of the both sailors' jackets has misfired causing it to bubble nad there is a minor small abrasion/chip to the end of the yellow pouch of 'Return'.
