Condition

Loss to red polychromy on turban. Lacking two earrings now showing holes in lobes. Minor traces of oxidation and dirt and scratches throughout.

Catalogue Note

Gaudez was born in Lyon and exhibited at the Salon from 1864 to 1889, winning gold medals at the Exposition Universelles of 1889 and 1900, a few years before his death, in Neuilly, in January 1902. He was awarded the Legion d'Honneur in 1893.
