Catalogue Note

In the same way that William-Adolphe Bouguereau often drew inspiration from sculpture compositions for his paintings, sculptors were inspired by his work as well. L'amour Vaiqueur was painted in 1886, sold Christie's, New York, May 25, 1984, lot 79, and is now housed in a private collection.
