Condition
Overall in good original condition with the usual wear to the patina consistent with handling and touching. Light scratches and dents consistent with age. Seven horizontal water stains to brown patina around base. Large dent to one side visible at base.

Catalogue Note
Hippolyte was the brother of sculptors Mathurin and Auguste (see lots 65 and 114). He exhibited his first work at the Salon in 1859 and focused throughout his long career on charming allegorical figures depicting young women and children.
