the lid surmounted with a pinecone finial, the front painted with an 18th century scene signed Poitevin and painted with Marie Antoinette and companion, the back decorated with a lakeside cartouche, the lid with interlaced L and E in underglaze blue and inscribed offert par le Prince de Rohan à la princess de Lomballe in underglaze red.

Condition

Tarnishing to gilt-bronze. The body with traces of repairs and overpaint. Some losses to the raised gilt decoration.
