Condition
Overall in good condition. Surface with dirt and minor traces of filler in places. Scratches to surface. Minor chips. Molded marble base with traces of repair, mostly to bottom edges around square block supporting bust.

Catalogue Note
Devenet was a pupil of A. Dumont at the École des Beaux-Arts of Lyon. He first exhibited at the Salon in 1879 and specialized mostly in portraiture. He won a bronze medal at the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle.
