Condition
The D-shaped pedestal has a large repair to the right back side. Carved with lotus leaves all with extensive chips and losses to leaves. Another repair to the bottom the column of approximately 2 in. x 1 in. Minor scratches in places. The bronze in good condition with the usual wear to high relief details such as the toes, fingers and legs of the figures.

Catalogue Note
Jaquet was apprenticed to the Belgian sculptor Guillaume Geefs. He was very prolific, producing approximately 300 different statues, busts, and sculptures for many public and national monuments, including the pediment and lions on the Brussels Stock Exchange (1872), the sculptural decoration of the Volkvlijt Palace, in Amsterdam (1864), and the National Monument at The Hague, Holland. He taught at the Beaux-Arts, Brussels.
