Catalogue Note
The seventh tractate of the order Tohorot is called Niddah and deals with the ritual uncleanness caused by menstruation or other fluxes; it is based chiefly upon the laws devolving from Leviticus chapters 12 and 15. Niddah is the only tractate in Tohorot with gemara. Unlike many other tractates that deal with ritual purity, whose relevancy was tied to a specific time or place, the importance of family purity as a continuing concern amongst Jews across the ages, made the study of tractate Niddah a matter of practical importance.
