Condition
The actual painting is a bit darker in tone and has less contrast than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The painting has a firm relining which has flattened the paint surface. Abrasion is visible throughout. Overall the paint layer is not in a good condition, although no damages are visible to the front. Retouchings are visible throughout. The varnish is glossy and discoloured.
Inspection under UV-light confirms extensive retouchings throughout.
Offered in a modern gilt wood frame, in fair condition. (JD)
