Catalogue Note
Admiral Prince Heinrich of Prussia (1862-1929) (photograph no. 8), sometimes known as Henry, held various commands in the Imperial Germany Navy and eventually rose to the rank of Grand Admiral. He became the first European potentate ever to be received at the Chinese imperial court. In 1899 he became officially the commander of the East Asia Squadron.
