the hinged top above the front panel carved with sea creatures abducting female figures, the end panels carved with winged creatures flanking handles of wrought iron, raised on support of later date, carved with lions centred by a mascaroon

Condition
Stained and varnished dark brown, the interior refurbished and plain, inside compartment lacking. Overall in reasonably good condition, with the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use, minor traces of old woodworm. The 17th century mouldings and front with old restorations and insets. Handles to the sides are later additions
