Condition
The actual painting is a little less bright than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The painting has a relining which has flattened the paint surface a bit. Minor abrasion is visible in the white hues. Otherwise the painting is in good condition, no damages are visible. Some retouchings are visible to the naked eye in the upper background and lower right. There is a dense and fine craquelure pattern and the paint surface is covered under a glossy and discoloured varnish layer.
Inspection under UV-light reveals additional retouchings throughout, e.g. larger spots in the background and lower right; smaller scattered spots in the area of the centre pot and spots in the white cloth and chicken. The signature is probably strengthened.
In an 18th century (?) carved and gilt wood frame, in fair condition, a few chips. (JD)
