- a pair, both oil on canvas

Condition
Both paintings are darker in tone and the colours have less contrast than the actual painting suggests.
Both canvases are relined. The canvas of first painting is a bit unstable at the top end.
With both paintings the paint surface has flattened somewhat and is a bit thin in the foliage of the trees, but overall both paintings are in good condition, no damages are visible to the naked eye.
The paint surface is under a very dirty and discoloured varnish layer and both need to be cleaned.
Inspection under UV-light reveals scattered spots of retouching in the sky of the first painting and in the lower right; the second painting shows some scattered spots in the background area. It appears that both paintings have not been restored much in the past.
Offered in carved, parcel gilt wood frames, in fair condition. (JD)
