A fine pewter puzzle tankard probably South German and late 16th century

the conical sides with seven facets engraved with female figures allegorical for the virtues, the triangles decorated with animals and foliage, the rim of the lid inscribed with a saying, the finial formed by a squirrel possibly replaced, the strap handle struck with a maker's mark and applied with drinking tube, the whole supported on three cherubim; together with a large pewter wine flagon, 18th century; marked and inscribed with the name HANS SAMUEL SCHLEGEL on the lid; further combined with a drinking horn in Gothic style, a stag's head with antlers, an oval cardboard box and a chest-shaped casket bearing the date 1495, dedicated to Sts. Augustin and Mauritz

Puzzle tankard: in overall good condition with some minor dents, marks and scratches. One small reinforcement, visible to the interior. Ornament to lower connection of handle probably reattached, finial to handle missing. Wine flagon: overall good, minor and some larger dents, marks and scratches, small restorations to the cover, few small cracks to upper rim, minor warping to bottom. Drinking horn; overall good, soiled, some warping to cover and mounts, few losses to the ornaments and gems, minor cracks to wooden foot. Stag's head: overall good, soiled, some smaller and larger splits to the wood. Casket and box: overall good, minor dents, marks and scratches, solied.
