- overall 24 by 22.5 cm.; the plaquette: 14.5 by 12.5 cm.
the oval composition of gold, repoussé and chased with the Adoration of the Child, offset against Lapis Lazuli and surrounded by a rectangular frame formed of pietre dure, the whole supported on slate, contained within a frame of rosewood, the corners inlaid with cartouches in Baroque style of gold and retaining traces of enamel, centred by Lapis Lazuli, one missing, the sides centred by shaped cartouches containing scrolls referring to Saints Victoria, Constantia and Felicitas
Condition
In central composition possibly part missing above Joseph's halo pietre dure complete apart from fragments missing bottom right as is visible in photograph, the frame with splatters of glue, some brass fillets missing from inlay
