Condition

The actual painting is a bit more yellow than the catalogue illustration suggests. The painting has a relining. Stretcher marks slightly visible to the front. The paint surface is somewhat thin in the sky and in the tree leaves, otherwise the paint surface is in stable condition, no damages are visible to the front. Discoloured retouchings are visible in the sky. The glossy varnish is dirty and discoloured. Inspection under UV-light reveals extensive retouchings in the sky; small scattered retouchings in the architecture, the white horse and in the figures who are well preserved. A few retouchings in the lower left foreground. Offered in a very ornate plaster gilt frame, in good condition. (JD)
