Condition
The actual painting is warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The canvas has a firm relining.
The paint surface is overall in a stable and very good condition. No damages are visible. The varnish is transparent, although a bit yellowed.
Inspection under UV-light reveals extensive overpainting of the niche in the background and a few scattered spots in the vase and in the flowers lying on the ledge. Otherwise the flowers in the vase are really well preserved, just a very few minor retouchings become visible.
Offered in a decorative gilt plaster frame, in good condition. (JD)

This painting is based on Henry Fletcher's engraved series of 'Twelve Months of Flowers' after Pieter Casteels III, which was published in 1730-31.1
