Condition

The actual painting is darker in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The painting is relined. The paint surface has flattened and is somewhat thin and suffered from dryness, but no damages are visible the naked eye. Some discoloured spots of retouching are visible in the clouds. The paint surface is under a dense and noticeable craquelure pattern and the varnish is very dirty and discoloured. Inspection under UV-light is largely impeded, but reveals some scattered spots of retouchings in the sky and clouds and in the area of the dogs in the centre. The figures and animals appear to be well preserved. Offered in a modern gilt wood frame, in good condition. (JD)
