Catalogue Note

It has been the family story for centuries that this particular tablecloth with matching napkins has been in the Beresteyn family when they resided in castle Maurik in Vught. Castle Maurik had been in the Beresteyn family since 1680, where they have lived for more than 200 years. The initials 'vKS' embroidered in red in the corner of each napkin and the tablecloth are those of the family van Kaathoven Spandaw. Henrica Catharina Spandaw most probably inherited the set from her mother Jkvr. Jeane Catharine Jacqueline van Beresteyn.
