Description
- the first 94 by 71 by 33 cm, the second 74 by 130 by 74 cm.
the shaped tops with rims of gilt brass fitted with a single drawer and supported by eight fluted columns, the sabots cast on one side in the form of human feet, on the other as leaves, one bearing trade label for G. Trollope & Sons; together with a desk, veneered in mahogany, the edges trimmed in brass
Condition
The tables: Overall in good condition, with the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. One with two larger soiled areas on the surface of the undertier of aprox. 5 x 2 cm. Slight oxidation to mounts of brass, legs of desk slightly loose.
The desk in overall good condition, brass banding and mounts slightly soiled.

After taking over the wall paper hanging business of his father, George Trollope became paper hanger to King George IV in 1830 and in 1842 to Queen Victoria. The firm expanded into interior decoration and later also a separate branch of cabinet-makers was set up. In 1851, the firm became formally known as George Trollope and Sons.
