Description
- the first: 136 by 168 cm.
illustrating the Seventeen Provinces of the Netherlands by Pierre van de Aa and dedicated to George I King of Great Britain, printed on silk, coloured, composed of sections sewn together; combined with a small cartographic wall hanging, 18th century, illustrating the state of war in Northern Italy and dated 1734, left and right edge with splits
Condition
In overall good condition, probably never exposed to daylight. The silk slightly dry, minor stains and yellowing, few minor tears, especially close to the lower border. Small area of tears to upper centre. One silk loop for hanging loose.
The smaller with one larger (circa 20cm. long) horizontal tear from left border, backed in paper, related small loss. Another horizontal tear to the right border.
