Condition

Good condition overall. There appear to be a few fillings and replacements to the polychrome marble drapery. Minor chips and fillings to the socles. Nose of the male bust restored.

Catalogue Note

La tête légèrement tournée vers la droite et coiffée d'un diadème, vêtue d'une tunique, le portrait de femme est proche d'un buste en marbre de Junon de la collection du Marquis del Carpio au Musée du Prado (inv. 1857, n°24). Réalisé au milieu du XVIIe siècle en Italie, ce même buste figure sur un dessin de la Société des Antiquaires de Londres (voir ci-contre).
