Description

  • Marc Chagall
  • Daphnis and Chloe: Beside the Fountain (M. 313)
  • 420 by 321 mm 16 1/2 by 12 5/8 in
Lithograph printed in colors, 1960, signed in pencil and numbered 40/60, on Arches wove paper, published by Tériade, Paris, with wide margins, in good conditon apart from light- and mat stain, the upper sheet edge verso with remains of adhesive and minor skinning, framed

Condition

The print is in good condition as catalogued. There is a window of light-stain around the image, darkest at the mat opening, with associated surface soiling. The margins and verso have slightly darkened due to exposure to an acidic mat. Remains of brown paper tape appear in two places at the upper sheet edge verso, with an associated skinned area at left, attributable to prior hinging.
