Two etchings, 1927, each signed in red brush (the first very faint) and numbered 63/99, on Van Gelder wove paper, included in Le Chef-d'oeuvre inconnu de Balzac, published by Vollard, with full margins, generally in good condition except the signatures and numbering significantly faded, the first with scattered foxing in the lower margin, tears at the upper sheet edge, the second with a few pale stains in the margins (2 prints)
Condition
The signature of the first print is barely visible and the other signature as well as the numbering on each print are noticeably faded. There are 5 tears at the upper sheet edge of Bloch 83, the longest measuring 3/4 inch. Very pale foxing is tightly clustered along the lower sheet edge. There is creasing at the sheet corners, with an associated tear at upper right. Bloch 93 has pale stains, possibly rust or oxidation from the window of a previous mat, and some light surface soiling visible in the margins
